Decent Social Skills Presents: Activity Buddies
About Decent Social Skills: Practice being social without worrying about messing up! That's what this group aims to do. We take exercises from various social skills classes we've either attended or come up with on our own and practice together. It's 80% practice and 20% theory. Less lecture, more practice!
About this Session: Let's practice inviting people to join us at upcoming events and activities. Since the focus is on the activity and not exclusively each other, there is much less pressure or need to be vulnerable.
We'll start by taking an inventory of what activities we do or would like to do that we could invite someone into. The focus will be on events we could go to alone or with a plus one, such as group classes or activity centered meetups in the next two weeks.
Whether the person we're inviting is able to make it or has to cancel at the last minute, we should be able to have fun at these events with or without them. Every event you go to could have the potential to introduce you to more interesting people you could invite out.
We will then practice weaving these events and activities into our conversations. If it happens to be a point of connection, it will be very easy to just invite them to join you next time.
